How we researched this
We have not tested the apps on this page hands-on. It is built from App Store and Google Play listings, the developers' own sites, and recent user reviews, captured as raw notes, and the writing is AI-assisted from those notes. Scores, rankings, and "best for / skip if" calls are our judgments from that research. Read the full methodology →
Our verdict
We'd recommend FaithLocked to anyone, on iPhone or Android, whose goal is a short daily prayer before the feed. Its free plan is the most generous among the prayer lock apps in this directory: two prayer-time locks a day, no ads, and the Bible, journal, and community open without paying. Tying the lock to prayer times you choose, rather than every app open, makes it easier to live with, and the developer is candid in its terms about using Google Gemini to write the prayers. Skip it if you want prayers written by people, a modern English translation, or a study tool. Also weigh its age: FaithLocked first shipped in May 2026, so there is little long-term evidence yet on how the lock holds up over months, and a share of recent App Store reviews come from people upset at hitting the paywall. Start on the free plan, and if you upgrade, avoid the $9.99 weekly option.

Is FaithLocked free, and does it work?
Is it free? Yes, with limits. The free plan gives you two prayers a day and locks your apps at your first two prayer times, with the whole Bible and the community always open and no ads anywhere in the app.¹ Premium costs $9.99 a week, $19.99 to $49.99 a year, or $149.99 for lifetime as of October 12, 2026.¹
Does it work? Early signs are good. FaithLocked holds a 4.8-star average across about 900 US App Store ratings and 4.9 stars across more than 3,000 Google Play reviews, with 10,000+ Android downloads.¹² Reviewers describe praying at least three times a day and say it helped where other blockers failed.³ The caveat is age: the app first shipped on May 28, 2026, so nobody has months of evidence yet.¹
What FaithLocked actually is
FaithLocked is made by Victor Cristobal Gonzalez Martin, an independent developer whose terms are governed by Spanish law.¹⁴ It runs on iPhone (iOS 18 or later) and Android (8.0 or later).¹² On iPhone the lock uses Apple's Screen Time, which the privacy policy says Apple processes entirely on the device. On Android it uses the Accessibility service to see which app is opening and draws the prayer screen over it.⁴⁵
The setup is four steps. Pick the apps you want to protect, set your prayer times (morning, afternoon, evening), and when you try to open one of those apps FaithLocked takes you to a prayer pause: a verse of the day, a short devotional matched to your denomination, and a prayer. After you pray, the apps open for the window you chose, then lock again.¹
That makes FaithLocked a rhythm tool more than a blocker. It does not stand in front of every app open all day; it stands in front of your apps at the times you decided to pray.
Day-to-day features
The prayer-time lock
This is the reason to install it. The free plan locks at your first two prayer times each day; Premium locks at every prayer time.¹ On Android, the terms warn that some phones' battery-saving settings can delay or interrupt blocking, and recommend excluding FaithLocked from battery optimization.⁴
AI-written prayers
Each prayer is personalized to how you say you feel that day. FaithLocked's Terms of Use say plainly that prayers are generated by Google Gemini through the developer's proxy, that the text may occasionally contain inaccuracies, that Scripture references are checked against an on-device verse library, and that the prayers are for personal devotion, not religious counsel or pastoral guidance.⁴ The privacy policy lists what each request sends: the two moods you picked, your first name if you gave one, your streak and prayer count, your language, and your local hour.⁵
This is AI-written prayer, not AI chat. You cannot ask FaithLocked questions about the Bible; it writes the prayer for your pause and that is all.
Verse, devotional, and Bible
Each pause pairs the verse of the day with a short devotional matched to Catholic or Protestant tradition.¹ The full Bible is available offline with search and a bookmark. English readers get the King James Version only; Spanish readers get Reina-Valera.¹²
Journal, streaks, and Flofli
A spiritual journal holds what you felt after each prayer, and the listing says your journal and today's prayer stay on your device.¹ Streaks, stats, and 43 achievements track the habit. Flofli is an in-app sheep that grows with your streak and can be dressed with coins you earn or buy.¹²
Community and widgets
A prayer wall and a live prayer chat let you share requests with other users. Posting requires an account, and the terms describe filtering, reporting, and a zero-tolerance policy for abusive content.⁴ Premium adds Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for the verse, prayer, quotes, your streak, and a liturgical calendar.¹
Where it stands out
The free plan is real. Two prayer-time locks a day, no ads, and the Bible, journal, and community open, without a trial clock.¹² Among the prayer lock apps in this directory, that is the most you get without paying.
It runs on Android. Most prayer lock apps are iPhone-only. FaithLocked's Android version has more Google Play reviews than the app has US App Store ratings.¹²
It is candid about the AI. The terms name Google Gemini, explain the limits, and the privacy policy lists exactly what is sent.⁴⁵
Where it falls short
It is months old. First released May 28, 2026, with version 1.1.2 shipped on October 4, 2026.¹ There is no long track record for how reliably the lock behaves.
The prayers come from a model. If you want prayers written by people, or worry about generated devotional text, this is the wrong app. The developer's own replies to reviewers say the subscription exists mainly to pay for generating those prayers.⁶
Paywall friction. Several recent App Store reviews, in English and Spanish, are one-star complaints about being asked to pay.⁶ The Terms of Use also say an active subscription is required to access all features and that weekly, monthly, and yearly plans may be offered, which is written more broadly than the listing's free plan.⁴
Thin Bible. One English translation (KJV), and no reading plans, highlights, notes, or commentary.
The pricing reality
As of October 12, 2026 the App Store lists:¹
- FaithLocked Premium, weekly: $9.99
- FaithLocked Premium, yearly: $19.99 or $49.99
- FaithLocked Lifetime: $149.99
- Faith Coins and streak freezes for the sheep: $0.99 to $4.99 each
The latest release notes describe a new plans screen with a 3-day free trial of Premium, a weekly plan, and Lifetime.¹ Google Play lists in-app purchases without prices.² At $9.99 a week you would pay about $520 over a year, more than three times the lifetime price, so if you upgrade, pay yearly or once. For comparison, Bible Mode is also free to start, but it runs only on iPhone and iPad.⁷

Who else should consider it
Android users who want a prayer lock. FaithLocked is one of the few in this category with a well-reviewed Android version.²
People who struggle to find words to pray. One Google Play reviewer says it helped with exactly that.²
Spanish speakers. The app ships with Reina-Valera, and its site and many of its reviews are in Spanish.¹³⁶
Our final word
FaithLocked is one of the strongest prayer lock apps we have added to this directory. It ties the lock to prayer times you choose, gives you a usable free plan with no ads, works on both iPhone and Android, and is upfront that Google Gemini writes the prayers. The trade-offs are newness, a KJV-only English Bible, and premium prices that are steep if you pay weekly. Start free, see whether the prayer-time rhythm sticks, and keep a full Bible app alongside it for reading.
Best for
iPhone or Android users who want a short daily prayer before social media, and who would rather start on a usable free plan than a trial countdown.
Skip if
People who want human-written prayers, a modern English translation, or a lock earned by reading Scripture rather than praying.

WHY DO I NEED TO PAY TO USE THIS??
I THOUGHT THIS APP WOULD BE GOOD UNTIL YOU’RE FORCED TO PAY! NOT EVERYONE HAS THE MONEY! STOP USING GOD FOR MONEY
— 🏐🤍gabs🤍🏐 · July 7, 2026
